Drexel Finishes Second Among Philly Schools at Big Five Invitational

Philadelphia - The Drexel golf team finished second among the six Philadelphia area schools participating in the Big Five Invitational at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Drexel finished just two strokes behind city champion Penn while the Dragons finished one stroke better than Villanova. Junior Sean Semenetz led the team as he finished in a tie for ninth individually as he carded a seven-over-par, 149 for the two rounds. Cornell placed first of the 16 teams in the event with a 595. The Dragons were 19 strokes behind the Big Red with a 614.
Drexel shot a 307 in both rounds and nearly caught Penn in the second round as the Quakers carded a 297 in the first round but posted a 315 on the second day. Villanova started the second round three strokes behind Drexel but could not overtake the Dragons as the Wildcats fell one stroke short.
Myles Vlachos finished the tournament with a 154 while Steve Ransom carded a 157. Frank Petrash also finished with a 157 after posting Drexel's best score in the first round, a four-over-par 75. Patrick Hardin totaled a 159.
